Our Story
In 2012, 35 senior yoga teachers in California came together to discuss the future of yoga, at the first YogaNext conference. The discussions at this conference were instrumental in defining our mission and laid the foundation for increasing the standards of yoga education and promoting an ethical and conscious yoga entrepreneur-ism. Yoga Next is a Non-Profit Public Benefit corporation, registered in California. It is a movement championed by visionary yogis to take the education and practice of yoga to the Next Level! Our Mission is to:
Promote the comprehensiveness of yoga as a science/art of self realization
Promote the health benefits of yoga: Physical, Mental, Spiritual
Be an advocate for the yoga community
Promote conscious teaching and business practices
Develop and publish standards for yoga education
Since its inception, Yoga Next has conducted many yoga conferences and yoga festivals to promote our mission.
For many in the Western cultures, yoga is synonymous with Asana, the physical postures. While these physical exercises offer many health benefits, one can achieve a lot more benefits by incorporating other limbs of yoga into their practice, such as Yamas (morals), Niyamas (disciplines), Pranayama (breathwork) and Meditation. Given the challenges we face in the world today, we can no longer ignore the very tools that can enable us to overcomes these challenges. A comprehensive and integrated yoga practice can transform our lives. We would like to help you realize the full promise of yoga and not just asanas. Our focus is to to educate yoga teachers and practitioners that yoga is a comprehensive path of self realization and a multi dimensional healing modality. We also strive intend to provide practical tools to manifest yogic philosophies into actionable goals.
We also believe that Yoga is for everyBODY, regardless of one's age, sex, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, spiritual background and economic status. Yoga was India's greatest gift to the world. Many yogis from India and in the rest of the world are custodians of Yoga, but nobody owns it. This technology was developed for the evolution of entire mankind, not just for Indians. Therefore, we support any individual or community who wants to use yoga for their well-being, be it mental, physical or spiritual.
